A native Floridian, Rob grew up in Miami during a time of rapid economic and real-estate development and seeing Miami expand westward introduced him at an early age to the world of land development and housing construction. His love of the City, combined with his passion for offshore fishing, drove his decision to remain in Florida for college, and during his time at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Rob grew to appreciate Central and North Florida, two vastly different areas than Miami. Although it was small and inland, Gainesville also nurtured Rob’s love of the outdoors, this time in the form of mountain biking, a sport he still actively pursues. Rob eventually returned to Miami to attend the University of Miami School of Law and now resides in Orlando, which provides a unique combination of the things he appreciated in both Miami and Gainesville. Rob’s knowledge of Florida serves him and his clients well in his day-to-day practice. He has represented clients and litigated cases in every region of the state and has enjoyed getting to know the intricacies of each area.
In his nearly 30-year career as a Property Rights and Construction Law attorney, Rob has consistently and effectively represented property owners in complex matters involving land development and land related disputes such as construction defects in the built environment; residential and commercial land use; environmental law; owner and contractor construction contract disputes; property rights; and eminent domain. His life-long interest and experience in residential and commercial land use give him inside knowledge of the residential community development process which has been an advantage when pursuing his clients’ construction defect cases and protecting each clients’ unique property rights.
Rob is a meticulous attorney who works best when presented with complicated construction issues. This problem-solving mindset led to an interest in applying complex building science principles through supercomputing to identify the causes of his clients’ construction defects when traditional forensic investigations proved ineffective. With a building science approach, he can evaluate the unique design and construction elements in a project and develop the evidence necessary to prove his clients’ construction defect claims. Having seen success using supercomputing to identify the causes of construction defects also led to Rob’s participation in creating a building science platform as a service startup with a business goal of identifying and avoiding potential construction defects before construction even begins. This passion for representing landowners, homeowners, and community owners’ associations is fueled by his desire to make Florida a better place for all its residents.
